Extension Guide
Everything you need to install and use Talentopian Explorer and Talentopian Counselor inside your live Google Meet and Zoom sessions.
Which extension is for me?
Talentopian publishes two separate Chrome extensions on the Chrome Web Store. Pick the one that matches your role.
Talentopian Explorer
- Surfaces points from your own résumé while the interviewer is talking
- Suggested response scaffolds you can glance at — never scripted lines
- Click any bullet to dig deeper in the side chat
- STAR debrief and thank-you note draft after the call
Talentopian Counselor
- Client context (PCS scores, prior notes, goals) in the meeting sidebar
- Real-time coaching cues — what to ask, where to probe, when to pause
- Auto-drafted SOAP-format session notes from the conversation
- Session-prep briefings before each meeting and analytics across clients
Installation
Both extensions install from the Chrome Web Store in under a minute.
- Open the listing for the extension you want — Explorer or Counselor — on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome, then confirm the permissions prompt.
- Pin the Talentopian icon next to the address bar so it's always one click away. (Click the puzzle icon → pin Talentopian.)
- Open a Google Meet or Zoom call to confirm the sidebar appears on the right side of the screen.
The extension does not have its own login screen. It signs in automatically using your existing Talentopian web session.
- Open www.talentopian.com in any tab and sign in.
- Switch back to your Google Meet or Zoom tab. The extension picks up your token within a second or two.
- If the sidebar still asks you to sign in, refresh your meeting tab. (We sync the token as soon as the Talentopian tab loads.)
Using it in a meeting
Step 1 — Enable closed captions in your meeting client
The extension reads the captions Google Meet or Zoom already display on your screen. We do not record or upload audio. If captions are off, the extension has nothing to work with. The extension will try to enable captions for you automatically, but you can also turn them on manually from the meeting toolbar.
Step 2 — Open the sidebar
The sidebar appears automatically on the right side of the meeting page once you join. If it isn't there, click the Talentopian icon next to the address bar and choose Open Sidebar in Meeting.
Step 3 — Let it work in the background
You don't need to do anything during the call. As people talk, the extension surfaces suggestions in the sidebar:
- Suggested Response — concise bullets you can glance at between answers (Explorer) or coaching cues a counselor can deliver (Counselor).
- Deep Dive Chat — for follow-up questions. In Explorer, click any bullet in the Suggested Response to seed a contextual question. In Counselor, click any keyword in the Knowledge Tree.
Step 4 — End-of-session output
- Explorer: click 📊 Analyze Interview to get a STAR-format debrief and a context-aware thank-you note draft.
- Counselor: click 📝 Session Note to auto-generate a SOAP note (Subjective / Objective / Assessment / Plan) and follow-up action items, saved to your client's record.
Plan requirements
Each extension is gated to the right subscription tier:
- Talentopian Explorer — included with the Pro plan ($19.99/month) and the Counselor plan.
- Talentopian Counselor — requires the dedicated Counselor plan ($39.99/month). The Pro plan alone does not grant access. If you sign in to the Counselor extension on a Pro account, the sidebar will show a "Counselor plan required" notice with a one-click upgrade link.
Manage your subscription
Cancel, switch plans, update your payment method, or download invoices through Stripe's billing portal.
- Go to talentopian.com/payment and click your current plan.
- Click Manage billing. You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure customer portal.
- From there you can update your card, view past invoices, switch plans, or cancel.
Privacy & consent
What we read. Only the closed-caption text already shown on your screen by Google Meet or Zoom. No audio, no video, no tabs outside the meeting page.
Where it goes. Caption text is sent to our secure backend solely to generate the in-meeting suggestions and the post-meeting analysis report, and to save that report to your authenticated Talentopian account. We do not sell or rent transcripts; we don't use them to train generic foundation models.
Retention. Processed transcripts are retained for up to 90 days, and are deleted when you delete the associated session or your account.
The full privacy policy is at talentopian.com/privacy.
Troubleshooting
The sidebar isn't appearing
- Make sure you joined the meeting (the join screen doesn't have a sidebar).
- Click the Talentopian icon in the toolbar → Open Sidebar in Meeting.
- Refresh the meeting tab. Some Meet/Zoom updates briefly hide injected elements until the page settles.
Suggestions are blank or stuck on "Listening…"
- Confirm that captions are turned on inside Google Meet or Zoom — without captions there's no text to read.
- Wait 10–20 seconds after the first sentence is spoken; the first prompter cycle takes a moment.
- If your meeting language differs from your account language, try setting the sidebar language toggle (Auto / EN / KO) explicitly.
I see "Counselor plan required" but I just subscribed
- Click I just subscribed — refresh on the lock screen.
- If that doesn't update, refresh the meeting tab once. The role check polls Firestore on each session start.
I see "Sign in to continue"
- Open talentopian.com in any tab and sign in.
- The extension auto-syncs your token within a second. If not, refresh the meeting tab.
The Knowledge Tree shows old topics from a different session
- The Counselor sidebar restores your previous session for continuity. Click Save Session to archive it, then start a fresh meeting to begin a new tree.
