1. Why this chapter exists — sector intelligence as PCS validity context
The v1.0 whitepaper §3.4 documented the labor-market overlay (O*NET occupational taxonomy + WEF Future of Jobs industry profiles). Across v1.1–v1.6 the focus was on PCS measurement validity (Korean cultural context, SIOP psychometric standards, cross-cultural generalizability, and trainability). v1.7 closes the gap by documenting the sector-intelligence layer that PCS career recommendations rest on — without which PCS scores would have no interpretive frame at the recommendation level.
The end-to-end career-fit reasoning chain (per the v1.0 whitepaper §1.2 architecture):
PCS scores (48 parameters × 8 categories) → bridge to occupations (O*NET-anchored taxonomy, top-N matched occupations) → enrich with sector intelligence (sector profile + signature skill + salary + AI-resilience + career-mobility paths) → counselor-mediated discussion of fit

2. The sector-intelligence layer
Conceptually, the layer is a set of complementary components, each adding one distinct interpretive capability:

Architecture pattern: the benchmark, profile, and signature components build the sector descriptor; the occupation-keyed bridge makes it consumable per occupation; the per-user context fuses it into individual profiles; salary triangulation strengthens the salary basis; the opportunity surface supports administrative reporting; and the career-mobility component adds the mobility dimension. Each component contributes a distinct capability to the layer.
3. Career-mobility paths — the substantive addition
The career-mobility component surfaces, for each occupation, a small set of higher-paying careers within the same broad (WEF-defined) sector, along with an estimated salary uplift. It is derived from an occupation-to-sector crosswalk combined with the triangulated salary basis.
Illustratively, a lower-paid occupation within a broad sector maps to higher-paid specialities in the same sector (for example, entry occupations in healthcare mapping to higher-paid clinical specialities). Occupations already at their sector's salary peak correctly surface no higher-paying same-sector targets.
3.1 — The honest caveat (preserved)
"CAVEAT: because the grouping is by broad sector, some paths are aspirational rather than realistic transitions; they should be framed as 'higher-earning careers in your field.' A skill-realistic version requires expanded skill-tag coverage across occupations — a future lever."
Interpretation for v1.7: the mobility layer is a "directional aspiration map," not a "realistic career-transition planner." A user whose PCS profile matches a lower-paid occupation, seeing a much higher-paid speciality in their growth-path list, should NOT interpret this as an immediately attainable next step. The counselor frame is: "your sector contains careers at much higher salary points, and here are their requirements — would you want to invest in that path?"
3.2 — Skill-realistic version (future work)
A skill-adjacent version of the mobility layer would filter candidate targets by PCS-dimension distance — showing only careers whose dimensional profile is within a bounded distance of the user's actual PCS. This is future work, dependent on expanded skill-tag coverage across the occupation universe. When that coverage grows, the framing can shift from "aspirational same-sector" to "skill-adjacent same-sector," strengthening the counselor-discussion value.
