v1.2 PCS Psychometric Validation Addendum
Companion to: v1.0 + the v1.1 Korean career-counseling companion. Purpose: Formal psychometric framework for the pilot cohort per SIOP Principles (2018) + AERA Standards (2014) measurement-quality criteria. v1.2 maps the v1.0 §4-§5 results onto the standard 4-coefficient validation suite + documents what is collected vs deferred. Audience: SIOP / AERA / peer-review-bound readers + v2 IRB-gated study scoping. Status: Addendum to self-published v1.0; not peer-reviewed. The 4 classical validity coefficients (test-retest reliability, concurrent validity, criterion validity, convergent validity) remain NOT yet collected at v1.2 ship; v1.2 documents the framework + roadmap. 1. Why this addendum exists
The v1.0 whitepaper documented the game-based, multi-parameter competency framework + pilot-cohort internal-structure findings. The v1.1 companion provided framing relevant to Korean career-counseling practice. Neither version formally maps the v1.0 results onto the standard 4-coefficient psychometric validation suite that SIOP / AERA peer-review expects.
v1.2 closes that gap by:
- Mapping v1.0 §4-§5 results onto SIOP Principles 2018 (or AERA Standards 2014) measurement-quality criteria
- Distinguishing what IS computable from the v1.0 pilot-cohort data vs what requires v2 IRB-gated collection
- Specifying the validation-collection sequence for v2
- Providing peer-review-ready language for a future peer-reviewed manuscript (§4-§5)
2. The 4 classical validity coefficients — v1.2 status table

3. What the pilot-cohort v1.0 data can support (computable now)
3.1 — Internal-structure evidence (v1.0 §5.1 formalized)
v1.0 §5.1 reported an inter-parameter correlation matrix from a small early pilot cohort. Preliminary internal-structure analysis on that cohort is underway and will inform framework consolidation and formal validation through academic partnership. v1.2 formal psychometric framing:
- Cluster-level internal consistency: across the framework's categories (the eight-category structure with the PHYSICAL category included), compute Cronbach's α per cluster on the pilot-cohort sample
- Expected α range: 0.50-0.85 for behavioral/cognitive clusters; lower for personality/values clusters (typically more multi-faceted)
- Reporting requirement (SIOP-aligned): report α with 95% CI per cluster + the within-cluster pairwise r matrix
- Caveat: the pilot cohort is a small sample for stable α estimates; CI will be wide; v1.2 honest framing should treat these as PRELIMINARY internal-structure indicators NOT validity claims
3.2 — The soft-skill collinearity cluster (v1.0 §5 finding formalized)
v1.0 §5 reported a strongly collinear cluster among four soft-skill parameters (Emotional Intelligence, Negotiation Skills, Social Skills, and Collaboration Skills) in the early pilot cohort. v1.2 formal interpretation:
- Reading: this is either (a) a true latent-construct collapse (the four parameters measure the same underlying soft-skill dimension in the pilot cohort) OR (b) a measurement artifact (the four parameters receive identical or near-identical game-trace inputs)
- Diagnostic test: examine the per-game scoring weights for these four parameters in the scoring-framework specification; if substantially overlapping → (b); if distinct → (a)
- v2 dimension-reduction work (v1.0 §4.4 already flagged): factor analysis at N ≥ 200 to determine whether these four collapse to one or remain distinct
- v1.2 honest framing: in the pilot cohort the cluster could be either; v1.2 does NOT claim to resolve the interpretation
4. What CANNOT be computed at v1.2 (deferred to v2)
The 4 classical validity coefficients (§2 table rows 2-5) require new data collection:
- Test-retest: needs the same (or larger) cohort to retake the assessment at 4-6 weeks
- Concurrent validity vs O*NET RIASEC: needs RIASEC battery administration; not in current PCS scope
- Convergent validity vs self-rated soft skills: needs BFI-2 or similar; not in current scope
- Criterion validity: needs 18-month longitudinal career-outcome reporting from the cohort
v1.2 explicitly disclaims attempting to estimate any of these from the cross-sectional pilot-cohort data. Any future version of the PCS Validation whitepaper that claims one of these coefficients without the corresponding collection is a retraction risk.

What v1.2 IS:
- A formal psychometric framework documenting what v1.0 data DOES support (§3) vs DOES NOT support (§4)
- A SIOP / AERA-aligned 4-coefficient mapping showing which classical validity claims are computable now vs deferred to v2
- A v2 validation roadmap formalization (carried from v1.0 §4.5)
- A peer-review-ready scaffolding for a future peer-reviewed manuscript (§4-§5) + the v2 study
What v1.2 IS NOT:
- NOT a new validity claim — every claim in v1.2 traces to v1.0 or pre-registered roadmap
- NOT a peer-reviewed validation study — v1.0 + v1.2 remain self-published research drafts
- NOT a justification for high-stakes use — v1.0 §1.3 counselor-mediated positioning preserved
- NOT a replacement of v1.0 or v1.1 — addendum only; both prior versions remain canonical for their respective audiences
- NOT small-sample over-claiming — §3 explicitly frames computed indicators as PRELIMINARY with wide CIs
